Privilege to be back at the Lane for Ledley - Darren

Fri 16 May 2014, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Darren Anderton loved every minute of his return to the Lane for Ledley King's Testimonial on Monday night.

The midfielder starred at Spurs between 1992-2004 and holds the record for most Premier League appearances for us - 299.

As he explained, it was the first time he’d stepped back onto the hallowed turf since leaving the club 10 years ago.

“It was a privilege to be asked to play in Ledley’s team, a legend of this club,” said Darren, a regular for our official Spurs Legends team.

“When he first joined in with training, even as a kid, he was ridiculous. Sometimes the younger lads join in and they are nervous and look out of place, but Ledley came in and was unbelievable. Players took a step back and said ‘wow’.

“When he first got into the first team, he took everything with such ease, nothing was a problem for him, he was that talented. He was an incredible player.

“To be back at the Lane was an extra bonus, to be out there again was very special.”
