Pre-match: Southampton

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Chris Hughton says that Saturday's opponents Southampton possess a threat capable of undoing any side on their day.

We travel to St Mary's having not won at the arena since it was built seeking to put right that unwanted record on the South Coast.

Under new management, former Dundee United and Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock having succeeded Gordon Strachan, Saints suffered defeat last time out to local rivals Portsmouth at Fratton Park. Chris reads little into that result, pointing out that Southampton had the chances to reverse the outcome.

"One thing that Southampton always have is this very good work ethic and team shape," he said. "They showed that against Portsmouth and had chances in the last five minutes to go and win the game.

"When you've got Beattie and Phillips up front you always carry a threat. Behind them they generally work off two banks of four to give them their shape and Anti Niemi is a top quality keeper.

"They've got enough in the side, on any given occasion, to cause problems for anybody. At home they've got a good record and have a good, bubby support - any side that goes there has to play well to get anything."

Chris added that the appointment of Sturrock is just reward for his efforts and success at Plymouth.

"I think that Southampton are the type of club to give managers like Paul Sturrock opportunities. It is wonderful for him and he had a fantastic record at Plymouth in terms of points and the way that they played.

"It is a reward for the quality of teams he's produced and the hard work he put in."
