Praise for Christian

Andre Villas-Boas paid tribute to Christian Eriksen after his impressive debut at White Hart Lane.
The Danish playmaker earned praise from all quarters following his display in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Norwich City.
The 21-year-old was a key figure in our attack, and it was his excellent positional awareness and deft pass which allowed Gylfi Sigurdsson to stroke home our opening goal.
The Danish international went on to cause the Canaries all manner of problems – including playing his part in the build-up to our second goal just after the break – before being replaced by Lewis Holtby for the closing stages of the game.
“I’m happy for Christian because it’s always difficult to play your first game in the Premier League,” said Andre of the creative midfielder, who was making his first appearance in our colours since his move from Ajax this summer.
“He used all his experience – although he’s so young – to take the team forward and link up the game for us. (It was) a good performance as well.
“He knows how to position himself and found the gaps between Norwich that allowed us to link the game.
“It was an excellent performance for a player who has just arrived.”
Andre added that he believes Christian’s vast experience of playing in the Champions League with his former club will aid our quest to reach the competition this season.
“For such a young age, he’s very experienced in Ajax and in the Champions League. He’s very sound tactically and knows the game.”
