Poyet's Profiles: Part 1

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

From Sully's bruise to his dad's favourite player - the irrespressible Gus Poyet gives us his exclusive, personal, end-of-season profiles of his team-mates.

The three-part series starts at the back with the goalkeepers and defence...

1: Neil Sullivan: Sully's had a great season. I thought he did magnificent when he came back after having three or four games out. When he came back he did really well. He was unlucky to get a knock and it was a really nasty one. No-one saw that. The biggest bruise I have ever seen in football!

2: Stephen Carr: He has been missed. One of the best. When you come to Tottenham and talk to the players they all say in the last few years he has been the best Spurs player. We missed him a lot.

3: Mauricio Taricco: Tano has been magnificent. He's been playing in a position not many people thought was his best, full-back, but he's a great footballer, one of the best at keeping the ball. Aggressive, but unlucky with his red cards. Magnificent.

5: Goran Bunjevcevic: I think because of Goran we had to change our game because he was the one to start playing football from the back. He has that quality to give the first pass and he can go into midfield to create. We missed that.

6: Chris Perry: Chrissy, I think, is the most consistent player at the club. He is always the same. You know what he is going to do and he always does it. Sometimes you expect something from a player and one day he is better, one day he is worse but Chrissy is always consistent.

12: Gary Doherty: We've already three or four serious injuries in the first 12 players! Again, very, very unlucky. I was suspended for the game against Torquay and I was next to the touchline when he got injured. I saw it clearly and you just don't want to see that in football. He was been out for virtually the whole season but he will come back.

13: Kasey Keller: I was sure Kasey would play in the World Cup. A different style of goalkeeper than Sully and a great effort for the team.

18: Ben Thatcher: If you ask my father he will say the best player at the club is Ben Thatcher. Really aggressive, very difficult to play against. It's nice to play with him!

23: Christian Ziege: Started the season at his best, brilliant. Scored plenty of goals and was doing great until he picked up that little knee problem I think around Christmas. The quality is there. The system is perfect for him because he likes to play in that wide position with the chance to get into the box at the right time. Passing the ball, hitting the ball with his left foot, absolute quality.

26: Ledley King: Everybody told me before I got here that he was going to be one of the best centre-backs in the country and he proved that. I hope he can stay fit because I am sure he will be at the top for a long, long time.

30: Anthony Gardner: When you look at Tony is so big but so thin, you think he isn't that strong, but try and get the ball off him. I spoke to people at Chelsea after we won and they were really surprised about him. He will be one of the great revelations in England.

31: Alton Thelwell: Always training, great professional, not a bad word to say about him.

36: Dean Richards: I thought he started fantastic. After that we had so many changes at the back, playing with different players. One of our biggest problems was that we couldn't keep the same back four or three all the time. He is strong and has such a presence, he can win the ball in both boxes. A threat everywhere.
