Poyet stitched up
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gus Poyet strode around Spurs Lodge on Tuesday sporting a black eye and a few stitches, while comparing himself to a movie star!
The Uruguayan took a blow to the face in the closing stages of Sunday's win over Leeds and left the field with blood streaming from an eye wound. However, a little bit of personal suffering was not about to dilute his joy over the fine win.
"Call me Al Pacino - Scarface!" he exclaimed, before becoming slightly philosophical.
"That's alright, it's football. In Uruguay and, especially, in Argentina we say 'sometimes you give, sometimes you get'. It's football - no bother.
"I think it was an elbow. My first touch was poor and I found myself surrounded by four or five players while looking the wrong way. I haven't seen it on television so I don't know what happened.
"I thought 'Mamma Mia, why 30 seconds from the end', but the good thing is there is nothing wrong. I went to bed as normal and was more worried about my dead left leg than the problem with my face.
"I'm so happy. I was sad not to see the players straight away after the game. I wanted to be there to see the smiley faces everywhere - because I know everyone was happy.
"The result was very important, but it was how we played, how we passed the ball, how we created chances - that was very good."
