Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gus Poyet rightly pointed out that the team were well in the game against Newcastle for the first third of the encounter, but admits they did not react to a change in approach from the home side in the second half.
Stunning strikes either side of the break from Laurent Robert effectively put the seal on the game for Newcastle as they stepped up the tempo after an evenly contested opening spell. After that, Sir Bobby Robson's side laid siege on Kasey Keller's goal and two goals from Alan Shearer completed a four-goal victory.
"To be fair, I think we had some control in the game for 30-35 minutes - although I don't think we had the chances to reflect that," reasoned Gus. "We were confident though, if we kept playing like that way, that sooner or later we would have a chance.
"It changed around in the second half. They changed a little bit and we didn't know how to react, we didn't know how to change the game. Sometimes when you are in control and they start pressing you and making things difficult, you must change your game and do something different."
With a Carling Cup quarter-final against Middlesbrough looming on Wednesday, Gus says the team should spend some time reflecting on what went wrong at St James Park.
"I think we should think about it as players and be professional, ready for Wednesday. "I don't like it when people say 'it's gone'. It has gone, but why? Why did we have this 4-0 game away from home? It is something to think about."
