Poyet on Forlan

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Diego Forlan remains somewhat of an unknown quantity in the Premiership - but not to Gus Poyet.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan international joined Manchester United from Argentinian outfit Independiente in January for £7.5m.

He scored 36 goals in 77 games for Independiente and although he has yet to break his United duck after four substitute appearance, his fellow Uruguaran Gus, also born in Montevideo, is tipping him to get better and better at United.

Forlan has been tipped to start for the first time against us in tonight's Premiership encounter at Old Trafford.

Gus gave this analysis. "He's quick, clever, young and he'll have a lot of energy.

"South America to Manchester United is a big, big change but he will want to show that he can score goals in the Premiership.

"He's an interesting player. He can go left or right, one touch, two touch, he's quick, he has a good shot. He's a good striker and will get better at United."

Gus explained that the biggest test for any 'foreign' player is the pace of the game in the Premiership but our goal hungry midfielder, with 12 goals to his name already this season, suggested that it would easier for a striker to settle in.

"The pace of the game is different, the first 10, 15 minutes," said Gus. "If you don't know how to handle it it can be difficult. You can end up running everywhere and it's difficult to keep the same pace for 90 minutes.

"He's lucky because he can speak a littlre English but life, neighbours, everything is different.

"You need time. For some players it is different. If you are a striker and you have quality, you will score. I think it is more difficult for a midfielder."
