Positive vibes from Glenn
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle has talked with a welcome air of positivity surrounding the fitness of the squad as we prepare to meet Chelsea on Sunday.
Having coped admirably with up to 13 players on the treatment table earlier in the season the boss now has only four out - Christian Ziege (calf), Mauricio Taricco (groin), Ben Thatcher (back) and Neil Sullivan (broken thumb).
Of those yet to feature in the Premiership this season, Darren Anderton, Steve Clemence and Ledley King all came through Tuesday's reserve outing unscathed, as did Anthony Gardner, back from a thigh problem he picked up against West Ham six weeks ago.
"There is certainly light at the end of the tunnel," Glenn pointed out at this afternoon's press conference at Spurs Lodge.
"Ledley King and Darren played their first reserve games the other night, Steve Clemence has furthered his comeback and Anthony Gardner is on the way back as well.
"There is improvement in that area although I wouldn't say all those players can be brought straight back into the first team.
"Ledley's not had much training and that was his first game, he didn't play in pre-season and Darren's been out for 11 weeks. They'll need a bit more football under their belts before they can be classed as back with us but it's a good sign.
"We've still got injuries, Christian, Mauricio Taricco, Ben and Sully, but that's normal in a club.
"But we're in a situation where if we look around the training ground there's a healthy feel about the squad, 22, 23 players all fighting for places, the talent is there and suddenly you think 'well, this is the first time we've seen it like this' and it's come at a good time for us in the season.
"Last year we were hurt going into Christmas and New Year. We had 15 players to call upon at one stage and that was a bridge too far for us.
"Hopefully, if we can get the likes of Steve, Ledley and Darren all progressing we'll have a healthy squad to chose from."
