Posh vs Spurs XI - Ugo's preview
17 July 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Ugo Ehiogu expects a competitive edge to our Spurs XI friendly at Peterborough United on Saturday (3pm).
The League One side came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 in a friendly against a strong West Ham team at the ABAX Stadium last weekend and beat Irish side Cliftonville 6-0 on Wednesday.
A mixture of Development Squad and Academy players took on Rangers in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hotspur Way on July 10 and Ugo now expects to step up a level.
"Whenever you prepare to face a Football League team in their stadium you know it will be competitive both physically and tactically," said coach Ugo. "We'll have to match that and on top of that, the players have to handle playing in a stadium environment.
"We've made sure there is an edge to training every day and the players will now have to use their intelligence to move the ball around, knowing there is the pressure of playing against League One players who want to take the ball off them."
It’s been a positive first couple of weeks training for our Development and Academy squads, as highlighted by Academy Manager John McDermott.
“The Under-18s and Under-16s are currently at a training camp in Belgium and we’ll have high-quality friendly matches against Club Bruges at both age groups on Saturday,” reported John from Belgium.
“The Under-21s also have a test at Posh and at the same time, a number of players from the Development Squad will continue to work with the First Team this weekend, which is invaluable experience for them.”
