Pools of confidence

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Richards says the team will travel to table-topping Liverpool in a confident frame of mind given our own healthy league position.

It's first vs third at Anfield on Saturday and Dean agrees that sitting pretty in the table only adds to the confidence of the players in tackling such tough assignments.

"It think it has got to," he reasons. "It has got to be better to be at the right end of the table, hasn't it? I think everyone is enjoying it at the moment.

"Anfield is a great stadium and always a great place to play. It's also always a difficult place to play, but the pitch is always nice and there is a great atmosphere so, yes, I usually enjoy it."

Dean, who was a member of the Southampton side that de-railed Liverpool's Champions League qualifying bid two seasons ago, says our defenders should not concern themselves about which of Gerard Houllier's quartet of attacking options line up against Spurs.

Michael Owen and Emile Heskey are the familiar faces, but Milan Baros and El Hadji Diouf have made an impact in recent weeks.

"They are all going to be good quality players so we approach the game in the same way," said Dean, who is aware that Liverpool have adopted a more offensive philosophy this season.

"At the same time, they are attacking a bit more but they are conceding a few more goals these days as well. Henchoz is out for a while so that has got to be a boost for us too.

"We went to Man Utd and were unlucky not to get a result there - why not Liverpool?"
