Point leaves Jol disappointed

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Martin Jol put on a brave face but there was no hiding his disappointment after we were held to a draw by West Brom in the Barclays Premiership on Wednesday night.

Head Coach Martin gave full credit to an in-form Baggies outfit that enjoyed the better of the first half, hit the woodwork, forced a fine save from Paul Robinson and went ahead via Zoltan Gera.

Martin made changes at the break and the arrival of Mido helped change the game in the second half, his aerial presence a key factor in Robbie Keane's equaliser after 52 minutes. However, despite our territorial advantage and bags of possession, we failed to break down the visitors and it remained level.

"I was disappointed against Liverpool and disappointed against Birmingham as well because I want to win every game," reflected Martin afterwards.

"But you have to be realistic. We got out of jail in the first minute. It was from our mistake but nevertheless they had the chance.

"They were well organised and we couldn't break them down. We didn't have a physical presence up front so we made the decision to play from the back with Paul Robinson looking to give the ball to Stephen Kelly. Perhaps we tried to play too much in the first half.

"In the second half we changed our shape and gave them a lot of problems. We had chances for Mido, Robbie Keane and with a bit of luck we could have won the game. If we'd scored a second goal it would have been easier for us because they would have come out and left space for the likes of Keane and Defoe.

"It wasn't to be. I'm disappointed but I can only give the team compliments, they worked very hard, this is a young side and there were positive things out there as well.

"If you look at the other teams, they are all losing points as well but we are disappointed because we wanted the three points."

Results went our way, however, and the point gained retained our seventh spot and took us two points clear of Middlesbrough in eighth. Middlesbrough were held by Fulham on Tuesday night and have a game in hand. Villa and Charlton also drew on Wednesday night and Manchester City moved into the chase for UEFA Cup places with a win against Birmingham.
