+The Hughton View
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton takes a look back at Monday's Derby reverse and ahead to a fascinating tussle for seventh place, which continues for us with the visit of Aston Villa to the Lane on Sunday.
I THINK THE second half performance against Arsenal was better, there is no doubt about that. What they did do was catch us on the counter attack on a few occasions and will probably consider it could have been more than the 1-0 scoreline it was.
I am convinced this was because we were pushing forward trying to get a result. The first half was the period in which we didn't do well enough but, having said that, Jermain had arguably one of the best chances of the game.
We had two big chances - Jermain's and Robbie's in the second half. I can't necessarily say we would have deserved it had we scored, but we certainly stuck in there. We came up against a very good Arsenal side and, during the first half, we saw their quality.
We are now set for a very exciting end to the season with a few sides in contention for seventh place in the league. Our next two games are against teams in a similar position to ourselves, with Middlesbrough perhaps having the upper hand at the moment.
It is an intriguing end to it all and teams will look back, as we will, on games we needed to win and didn't - like West Brom at home. We are still in their fighting and a good performance and result against Aston Villa on Sunday would see us go into the Middlesbrough game with so much to play for.
Playing against other teams directly in competition with us for seventh could work in our favour. Villa is the most important because it is the next one and, if we don't get a result, it will make it doubly hard. If we get a win it will make the Middlesbrough game massive.
In the game today we talk about six-pointers and this would be a genuine one.
