ONE FOR for you all to picture. Scoop doesn't want to divulge too much, suffice to say, put these words together - Christmas party, dancefloor, Wham, certain first-team players - and we're sure that conjures up all sorts in your minds!
SCOOP HAS noticed that, since the introduction of mascots accompanying the players out onto the pitch before games at the Lane, Michael Brown's sidekick has nearly always been as big as him! The midfielder often has to peer over the shoulder of his mascot to get his face in the picture before kick-off. Scoop mentioned that the likes of Ledley King or Anthony Gardner might be better off walking out with the taller ones, but Michael reported that - as he likes to emerge last from the tunnel - the policy is smallest first and unless he changes his habit he will continue to walk out with the big kids.
SCOOP HAS BEEN informed that there was a little buzz in the Irish press following the Everton game that Dean Marney has Irish roots and might just qualify to play for the Republic. Dean, scorer of two superb goals against the Merseysiders on his first senior start at the Lane, was baffled by the link. He does, however, hail from Canvey Island...
NICE TO SEE that childish humour is still alive and kicking in football. As ever alert in the press box at the Lane, Scoop couldn't help but notice the lads play a prank on skipper Ledley King in a recent game. Ledley led the troops out for the second half - or at least, that's what he thought he was doing. However, led by Robbie Keane, the lads decided to hang back and let Ledley run out on his own as they cracked up in the tunnel. Nice touch!
