LURKING IN THE tunnel following the Nottingham Forest FA Cup tie at the Lane, Scoop couldn't help overhearing a couple of the Forest boys teasing their former teammate Andy Reid over whether a pair of cowboy boots had made a London appearance yet. Scoop could not resist questioning the leftie on the subject...
"Yeah! I've got a little pair of cowboy boots in the locker, I bought them out in Nottingham for one game and the lads were asking me if I've bought them out down here yet," revealed the new boy. "I said I don't think the lads are ready for them down here yet, but I'm sure they'll get an airing some time soon!" Sure the boys can't wait for that!
YOU CAN ALWAYS rely on Robbie Keane to look after you. After his wonderful text wind-up of his international team-mate Andy Reid - in case you don't know the story, Robbie sent Andy text messages pretending to be Martin Jol, Andy fell for it hook, line and sinker - and then holding everyone back in the tunnel to leave Ledley King running out on his own in a recent game, he was back to his old tricks in the FA Cup tie against Forest at the Lane. This time, Mido was the victim of the prank. Both Robbie and Mido were subs and with the teams ready for kick-off, followed them out to the bench. Mido walked in front and Robbie, typically, told him that the bench was around the left, rather than right. Off Mido went and walked about 20 yards before it clicked, leaving Robbie in stitches behind him.
CLIVE ALLEN was getting twitchy at Forest. He couldn't sit still on the bench - naturally thinking about how his reserve side - under the wing of Pat Holland - were getting on against Coventry at Stevenage. "I told Deano (Dean Marney) that I had to call someone, I couldn't stand it any longer and needed to know how it was going. But Deano just looked at me and smiled," laughed our development coach as he re-told the story at Spurs Lodge. In fact, it wasn't 'going' at all - the game had been called off at 6.30pm because of adverse weather conditions at Stevenage. "No-one had told me," added Clive. What was that programme Clive used to appear regularly on...On The Ball?
