IT'S GREAT to be England's first-choice goalkeeper at the moment but it's only one game. Hopefully I'll stay there. I didn't do too badly in Poland, didn't really have too much to do and hopefully that will give me another chance. Life hasn't changed that much for me and in terms of being in the public eye more in terms of media, it's as much as you want it to be. As England is so high profile you find that people want more interviews, more press coverage but it's really down to you. I've never really been one to speak too much to the press. I like to go home and spend time with my family. You need that time to relax.
WE'VE continued our unbeaten run and with the start we had we would have definitely taken that at the start of the season. They've been different games and different performances and it shows how far we've come in a short space of time where we're expected to beat the likes of Norwich at home and then going to Chelsea with the expectancy of maybe getting something.
I ENJOYED the Chelsea game. I was kept busy. They had a lot of the ball but didn't create that much and it was a great defensive performance. I've seen that their manager has said we just sat back and defended but they have to break us down. When you go to Chelsea you have to have a game plan. For us to come away from Stamford Bridge with a clean sheet and a point is an achievement. We didn't set our stall out right from the beginning to be defensive, it's just how the game panned out. It was tight and we shut up shop.
SIX games, two goals conceded, four clean sheets - as a goalkeeper, I'm obviously very happy with that. Things are going well at the moment, touch wood and we've got to keep it going. The defence has been superb although it actually came together quite late. Naybet came in the day before Liverpool but it's been a settled back four and we've worked well together.
MANCHESTER UNITED was always a massive game in my time at Leeds. I now face them for Spurs but it's still Manchester United and you still want to beat them. They have a great number of quality players and with Smudger (Alan Smith) there as well now, that's an extra incentive for me not to let him score. Smudger is a great player, great strength and movement and he's done really well since he went to United. Hopefully we'll have another shut-out, get something from the game and keep the points ticking over. We speak a lot on the phone and I give him a bit of stick about going to United but it's all good humour and we're good mates. He's done really well. He showed what a good player he was at Leeds and now he's gone to a club with the quality of players of United where he's getting the service week in, week out and he's proving he can score goals as well.
