+Kieran's hopes for youth

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Kieran McKenna says the youth-orientated background of the Spurs management team offers great encouragement to young players like himself striving to make the grade at the club.

Head Coach Jacques Santini has worked in youth football, while also overseeing all areas during his spell as a football director at Lyon, while Frank Arnesen had a reputation for spotting young players and developing talent while at PSV Eindhoven.

Both are now in situe at Spurs and Jacques gave the chance to many young players to impress in pre-season - plus giving many youngsters the opportunity on the training camp trip to Sweden.

"It is definitely encouraging, the likes of Frank Arnesen from PSV and Jacques Santini with a background in youth football - it does seem to be youth orientated," reasoned the midfielder.

"It was brilliant to come back and find I was going to Sweden with the first team. It is a fresh start for everyone, especially the youngsters, as we've all been getting a look in and a chance to impress the new boss. We've got to take the chance.

"You do feel more part of it all when you get to travel with the first team, especially when you get a taste of the action. You see all the fans and just want more.

"I like having the new people here, but it is also nice to work with someone you have already worked with and are familiar with in Clive Allen for the reserves."

While obviously dreaming of a first team outing at some stage, Kieran states that one of his more immediate aims is to cement a place in Clive's reserve side for this season.

"To keep improving, I feel I have improved in the two years I've been here, I want to carry on with that and hopefully establish myself in the reserves.

"I am definitely trying to push on with them this season, but will be happy to play for the under-18s as well. I want to push on and get games higher up.

"I need to develop physically and know I have some filling out to do to get more powerful - that is the main thing for me."
