+Deja-vu for Pedro
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pedro Mendes recalls that he has been part of a similar squad transformation to that at Spurs before - with a positive outcome.
The midfielder was one of our early recruits of the summer months, joining not long after Paul Robinson and Marton Fulop - and on the same day as Sean Davies. Since then, Erik Edman, Noureddine Naybet, Edson Silva, Thimothee Atouba, Rodrigo Defendi, Michael Carrick, Noe Pamarot, Reto Ziegler, Calum Davenport and Spase Dilevski have bolstered the ranks as well as Leigh Mills being added to our Academy from Swindon.
A new-look side have made a solid start to the season with eight points from four games going into Sunday's clash with Norwich at the Lane and Pedro insists that the players - new and old - have combined well and forged a good team spirit.
He points out that, while the pre-season campaign provided a mixed bag of results, the period was a valuable one for the squad to get to know each other.
"At Tottenham there are a lot of new players and, if you looked at the pre-season results, you would say they were poor. They were very useful games for the players to get used to each other.
"Now we have started very well because of those games and they were important for us to build a team.
"The new players always help each other, but the players who were already here have been fantastic."
And, as mentioned at the top, the blending of many new players at a club is not a completely new experience.
"At Vitoria Guimaraes when I was there two or three years ago there were lots of new players that came into the squad - 12 or 13.
"In the first year we finished in the middle of the table, the second we finished fourth. It takes time to get used to each other but the result was very positive."
