Paul Robinson was determined to look forward after what he described as a 'devastating' loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup.The keeper – now away on England duty – could do little as two wonder strikes from Andriy Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips in the 55th and 61st minutes left us with a mountain to climb against the champions in Monday’s quarter-final replay.

Robbie Keane gave us hope with a late penalty but it wasn’t to be as it ended 2-1 at the Lane.

“It was quiet in the changing room, everyone was bitterly disappointed,” reported Robbo. “We all felt we were on top and didn’t get what we deserved.

“Look at the bigger picture though. We reached the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and we’ve been beaten by Arsenal and Chelsea.

“We’re still in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup and we’ve put ourselves back in a great position in the league. There is so much still to play for.”

Back to Monday’s replay and Robbo, who scored against Watford on Saturday, could only reflect on the six minutes that changed the game in the second half.

“I thought we were the better team in the first half but two moments of absolute brilliance have beaten us,” he added.

“That’s why they are world-class players, two players who have had relatively quiet seasons delivered two fantastic goals and two sucker-punches to us.”
