Plenty in reserve for Simon
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Simon Davies insists he is happy fine tuning his form topping up his fitness in the reserves — even though the first team stage is very much his platform after his exploits last season.
The 21-year-old, who has been named in the Wales squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Armenia and Norway in September, appears to be something of a moveable feast at the moment, featuring in every first team squad while also turning out for the second string on occasions.
He does not mind one bit and insists he would rather be playing and putting juice in the tank for the new season, as he did to some effect with a two-goal show at Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday.
"I’ve been in the first team squad, but not playing so much and you have to get your fitness. So I don’t mind coming back to the reserves, I enjoy it and to score two goals is good for confidence.
"That’s my situation, I’ve got to accept that. If I’m going to be on the bench or in and around the first team then I’m not going to be playing as many games as I should to get my fitness. So you have to play the reserve games and I do enjoy it.
"You have to keep your fitness and the next team down is the reserves. I’m no different to anybody else, everyone has to do it."
Simon certainly looked a class act at Victoria Road as his two early goals put the Daggers on the back foot — both goals provided by his old Peterborough sidekick Matthew Etherington.
"It was a bit of a confidence booster getting a couple of goals like that early in the game and, even though it was a draw, we played some good stuff and got some positives out of the game.
"It was the old Peterborough link up again. It was enjoyable, Matt put some good crosses in and we could have buried a few more. But there was some good points to come out of the game.
"It was a tough game, but that’s exactly what you need at this stage of the season, a competitive game like that and it gets us all sharper and fitter."
