Pleat plays his King

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat praised Ledley King for his work in midfield after coming on as substitute against Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Ledley has been absent with a hamstring injury since the trip to Chelsea on September 13 and was called on to do a job in the middle where David felt play was becoming a little ragged and Boro were establishing authority.

"All I know is that today he did a very good job there," he said afterwards. "He played a very steady, sensible passing game. He is person that doesn't just kick the ball, he passes it and we needed someone to be calm and pass the ball."

Meanwhile, Paul Konchesky was forced off the field with two gashes on his shin and David revealed that a few players were struggling with knocks. Paul is ineligible for Wednesday's Carling Cup clash with West Ham.

"Paul is cup tied and can't play on Wednesday anyway. He has got two gashes on his shin and there was a few people falling down - another aspect where I thought our lads were terrific.

"Taricco was suffering with a strain, Anderton got a knock and we had more in the end that were carrying knocks."
