Pleat on Pompey thriller
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat was delighted to put a 'traumatic' week to bed with the thrilling Premiership win against Portsmouth.
Incredibly it was another seven-goal affair following the amazing FA Cup tie against Manchester City on Wednesday.
It looked like it could be a case of groundhog day as we led 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 only for Pompey to hit back on every occasion.
But fortune favoured us this time as Simon Davies swung in a deep corner, Dean Richards headed back and Gus Poyet converted from six yards with only two minutes left.
Jermain Defoe earlier scored a debut goal and Robbie Keane netted twice only for Eyal Berkovic, Lumana Lualua and Ivica Mornar to level it up.
"I am delighted with the win after the traumatic week we have had," said acting boss David afterwards.
"Fortune broke for us but maybe we deserved it. We kept at it and we got the victory - some you win some, you lose.
"I didn't enjoy the game to be honest but I can enjoy the final result. We won it in the second half where Portsmouth changed their tactics and made us work very hard.
"Football is full of ironies and although Portsmouth played well in the second half I think we deserved it because we have had a lot of adverse and unfair criticism this week."
