Pleat: Future's bright
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat has talked enthusiastically about the squad, the spirit and the future of the club as he prepares to take the side to Leicester City.
David, unbeaten in his caretaker manager's role, believes the squad isn't far short of challenging for a top six spot - and hopefully, therefore, Europe.
He said: "There is a spirit among the players and there is a bounce about the place.
"We have got hold of something and now we have to grasp it and not let it go.
"I look at our squad and I know that if we tinker a little bit we can be a force - we aren't that far short.
"People say we haven't got this or that, but we can work with what we've got to compensate for the deficiencies we have got.
"There is no more clever a little forward than Robbie Keane and Frederic Kanoute, when he gets in his stride, is something else.
"Stephane Dalmat could be very special once he gets an affinity for the whole thing.
"I watched Ledley King train this week and he is a fantastic player, while Anthony Gardner has been splendid in the last few games.
"It is all about getting the players to believe in themselves but I think there is enough in here to do well."
Meanwhile, with his director of football hat on, David moved to clarify the situation regarding our search for a new manager, following various stories in the newspapers.
He added: "Any comment regarding likely new managers or preferred candidates is pure speculation at this stage. The Club is continuing to review all the options. As soon as we have something to report we shall make sure our fans are the first to hear the news."
