Pleat feeling positive

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat says he is feeling positive that good things can be achieved this season and insists there is still much to play for in what is proving to be a tight league.

Just 13 points separate Charlton Athletic in fourth place and Leeds United, who are propping up the Premiership. We currently sit in 13th position, four points ahead of Leeds and nine off Charlton - meaning any significant run of victories can hugely alter the face of the table for us or other teams that hit form.

"I'm quite positive actually," said David, with the season nigh on a third gone. "You look at the results when you don't play - seeing Leicester beat Manchester City or whatever - and it is a good thing that no-one is going to get marooned.

"It is going to be close and it is up to us not only to get among, but get above the group.

"I don't see any team at the moment, outside of the top three, getting away from the rest. If it is a case of whether we might finish higher than Charlton, Man City, Newcastle - they are all still there within our sights.

"By the same token, we are still in the sights of Leeds, Blackburn, Everton or whoever else might be down there.

"I think there is a very close secondary league taking place at the moment. I've always said this, when you are trying to improve things at a club, you have to try and be the best in the group you are in. We are in that group at the moment," added David, who concluded by saying while unbeaten runs are important - too many draws can prove costly.

"Wins are very important, draws can be far less significant with the three points for a win against one. Our slip ups have been the dropping of two points against Middlesbrough at home and the defeat to Bolton - the big disappointment, no question about that."
