Pleat: Best so far
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat described the performance against Liverpool as the most satisfying of his time so far as acting boss.
With victory over the Anfield outfit making it four wins on the spin so far in 2004, David was quick with his praise for the team as a whole when reflecting on the weekend display back at the training ground.
"We showed a lot of commitment and played some good football, although it was difficult at the end when Liverpool were coming for us and throwing those balls into the box," he commented.
"We competed particularly well and everybody did a job. I said previously that we were anxious in the morning about losing height - with Poyet, King and Kanoute out - and might be vulnerable at set plays.
"I am delighted to say the boys did so well. I would say quite honestly, since I've been looking after the team, that performance bought more satisfaction than any other game."
The return of Simon Davies has been a major boost to the team since the turn of the year and David felt the Welsh international gave the Liverpool right-back a torrid afternoon at the Lane.
"I thought Simon Davies' positioning on the wide left was very, very clever and he gave Henchoz all sorts of problems - whether to go, stay or cover. I would also like to give great credit to Robbie Keane for the second goal, his movement really confused the Liverpool central defenders. The dovetailing of Keane and Postiga was good."
