Pleasure Trip!

30 December 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane hailed a “top class” performance from Kieran Trippier after the right-back helped us to victory on his first Premier League start in our colours at Watford on Monday.

The 25-year-old came into the side at the expense of Kyle Walker as Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino opted to deploy him and Danny Rose as wing-backs in a slightly tweaked formation at Vicarage Road.

The change paid dividends as we ran out 2-1 winners, with Kieran sending in the cross from which substitute Heung-Min Son cleverly flicked home the decisive late goal.

Striker Harry felt our tactics worked well on the day and praised former Burnley man Kieran for the impact he made on the right side as we notched up our third successive victory to end 2015 in style.

“Trips was top class and fair play to him,” said Harry of the rapid full-back who, aside from a brief cameo off the bench at Bournemouth back in October, has primarily featured in the cup competitions so far this term.

“He’s been waiting for his chance, he’s got it, he’s come in and done the job so that’s great.

“We changed our set-up slightly for the game, putting Eric Dier more into defence and letting the wing-backs bomb on so we could switch the play more and make it difficult for them and it worked, especially in the first half.

“The whole team dug deep to be fair. These games are tough, Watford stuck at it and it’s not easy playing two games in three days but we’re delighted with the three points.”
