Playing the percentages
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol is looking for us to convert a higher percentage of chances as we attempt to bring our form on the road back to the Lane this weekend.
Last Saturday's win at Manchester City was our third on the trot in the Barclays Premiership and fourth on our travels in the league this season.
We also managed away wins at Oldham, Burnley and Bolton in the Carling Cup.
By contrast, we've only won twice at home and that's something Head Coach Martin wants to start putting right against Southampton on Saturday.
"We want to play a more attacking game at home when the opposing teams tend to give us the initiative," he said.
"The most important thing then is to put away your chances - we didn't do that against Liverpool in the Carling Cup and it cost us dearly.
"I was pleased in that game though because we could have been leading two or three-nil and the same at Manchester City, where we had three terrific chances in the first half.
"However, we've not taken our chances and been on the edge in games. It's all about 100 per cent mentality."
Meanwhile, Martin has been pleased with how the squad has coped with injuries to the likes of Erik Edman and Reto Ziegler in recent weeks and the loss of Pedro Mendes and Noureddine Naybet at half-time at City.
"We have a couple of problems now with injuries to Naybet and Mendes but on the other hand, Anthony Gardner is back and doing well, Stephen Kelly is doing well, Erik Edman is coming back and Thimothee Atouba did well at left-back and I was pleased with that.
"Stephen came on and did terrific against Wright-Phillips, even Rohan Ricketts, he's a young player but he gave us good width at City and could have scored in the first half."
