PETERS HONOURED

Martin Peters was, on Thursday evening, inducted into the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame.

Martin Peters was, on Thursday evening, inducted into the Tottenham Hotspur Hall of Fame.

Martin joined the Club in 1970 and went on to make 260 appearances in five years here at the Lane, scoring 76 goals. He won 67 England caps and was, of course, a goalscoring member of England's 1966 World Cup winning side.

His World Cup teammates Sir Geoff Hurst and George Cohen were at the dinner to mark Martin's induction to the Hall of Fame, along with Spurs legends including Pat Jennings, Martin Chivers, Phil Beal, Ralph Coates, Cliff Jones, Paul Allen and Jimmy Neighbour.

A special point in the evening came with the posthumous inductions into the Hall of Fame of captain Ron Burgess and goalkeeper Ted Ditchburn from the 1950-51 League Championship winning team.

The sons of the Tottenham greats received the awards on their behalf, with other members of the families in attendance.
