Persistence paid off - Ryan

Ryan Mason felt the team reaped the rewards for 'sticking to what we believe in' at Villa.

The midfielder started his fifth Premier League match on the trot as we came from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Villa Park on Sunday.

Nacer Chadli turned home Erik Lamela’s corner for 1-1 with six minutes remaining and Harry Kane secured the victory in dramatic style when he free-kick flicked off the wall and flew into the corner.

“The difference was persistence and sticking to what we believe in,” said Ryan.

“Last week against Newcastle we went a bit ragged in the last half-hour but we kept playing at Villa, the subs came on and made an impact and in the end it was a good feeling.

“It was important to get back to winning ways. As players we all stressed that to each other and although we didn’t play the greatest of football, we showed great character.

“We knew we could turn it around. Harry is on fire at the minute and it was written in the stars for him to score.”
