Perry aid for Glenn
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Perry is aiming to hand Glenn Hoddle an end-of-season boost by being available for selection for the visit of Manchester United.
Our ever-consistent defender suffered a terrible gash across the knee in a 50-50 challenge against Chelsea last month.
It looked so bad at the time that it was suggested that he might need a skin graft to help the healing process but, thankfully, that wasn’t the case and the injury has healed quickly enough for Chris to raise hopes of facing United on May 19.
“The knee is coming along well,” beamed Chris at Spurs Lodge on Thursday. “I saw the specialist on Tuesday and he basically said I can start building up to train with the rest of the lads next week.
“Hopefully I’ll be available for selection against United. Whether or not I get in the team is another thing. It may come too early and I might not be fit but I’ll certainly be up for selection.
“It’s a massive game. It’s always nice to play against the top teams and they don’t come any bigger than Manchester United. It’s a great game to come back for.”
So how did Chris see the injury? “Basically it was a 50-50 tackle and I won the ball, he caught me and it ended up needing 10 stitches and at the time it was thought it might need a skin graft depending on how it healed,” Chris recalled.
“Luckily it has healed quite well and the stitches came out a couple of weeks ago. Since then I’ve made good progress and I’m probably ahead of schedule.”
