Perfect 10 for Spurs Ladies!
05 September 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs Ladies began the defence of the FA Women's Premier League Cup in spectacular style on Sunday.
They sent out a resounding message to any team looking to prise away the trophy by hitting double-figures against West Ham in their first round tie at Thurrock FC.
The victory included eight different goalscorers with only Nikita Whinnett and Kelley Blanchflower netting twice.
One of those goalscorers was skipper Jenna Schillaci, who said: "Every player gave their all, we scored 10 goals, took our chances and kept a clean sheet. This is our cup to defend and we've sent a statement out."
Head Coach Juan Amoros added: "It's never the easiest to travel to West Ham in the first round of the League Cup but we were excellent and dominated from start to finish. We showed we're up for trying to retain this cup."

This was as close to a perfect performance as Spurs Ladies could have hoped for. Hitting the Hammers for six before the break, the Lilywhites went onto complete a 10-0 rout at Ship Lane.
Five minutes in, Lucia Leon powered up the right flank, broke through on goal and placed her attempt inside the near-post for 1-0. Three minutes later, Spurs found a second. Wendy Martin was impeded inside the area and Eartha Pond smashed the penalty into the roof of the net.
It was 3-0 after 10 minutes. Riana Soobadoo found Bianca Baptiste, whose first-time attempt found its way in past Beth Griffiths.
Soobadoo’s deep pass over the hosts’ backline gave Nikita Whinnett a chance to stroke the ball home from inside the area for 4-0 after 23 minutes. Martin was then sandwiched inside the area and just managed to squeeze her 35th-minute penalty over the line.
West Ham goalkeeper Beth Griffiths denied Leon meeting Pond’s delivery, but could do nothing when Whinnett’s header went in for 6-0, 10 minutes before the break. Whinnett came close to her hat-trick before the break, but couldn’t keep her shot down on the turn.

Into the second half and Baptiste’s cross hit the crossbar before Spurs were in seventh heaven on 54 minutes as Renee Hector powered her header from Baptiste’s corner inside the near-post. Two minutes later, Baptiste’s shot deflected to Kelley Blanchflower, who smashed in for eight.
Soobadoo’s initial attempt rolled towards Blanchflower who added the ninth 19 minutes from time. The perfect 10 was completed just a minute later through skipper Schillaci, as she finished well at the back-post after being found by Soobadoo.
West Ham looked for a consolation through Molly Peters, but Megen Lynch’s superb concentration saw her keep out a palm-stinging strike.
