Pedro on the 'goal'
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pedro Mendes was a slightly bemused figure after being denied his second goal in two games against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Home keeper Roy Carroll was caught out of his goal in the dying moments of the game before recovering his position as he attempted to field Pedro's long-distance effort and spilt the ball over the line. It would most likely have been the match clincher, but neither the referee or his assistant spotted that the ball had crossed the line by some distance.
Pedro was shown the incident on the tunnel monitors by the television crews, which only served to increase his surprise over the goal not being awarded.
"I now feel worse!" sighed the Portuguese midfielder. "On the pitch I didn't see whether the ball crossed the line or not, but I have now seen it went way over.
"I now feel a bit sad because it was a goal and we should have had three points. It was a fantastic shot that I will keep in my memory but, unluckily, the referee didn't see it like that.
"We played very well, we are confident and have had some good results lately. We just played our game without any kind of pressure and came to Manchester with nothing to lose.
"We are happy with our performance and now have the feeling that we should be going home with three points."
Meanwhile, Pedro was happier to reflect on the goal that was - his first for the club against Everton at the Lane on Saturday.
"I was chasing that goal for a while and wanted experience the feeling - especially at White Hart Lane with the atmosphere. I was very happy about it."
