Paying the penalty

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Robbie Keane feels that mistakes cost us dear against Fulham at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Robbie's first half penalty was cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by Steed Malbranque's spot-kick following a foul on Louis Boa Morte and Fulham sealed the game when a set piece was not dealt with and a Ian Pearce header was followed up by Brian McBride.

"We got off to a good start with getting the penalty and played well in the first half," reflected the striker back at Spurs Lodge. "We need to concentrate on not making silly mistakes because, in the end, they cost us.

"Like I said, we did well in the first half and it is just a shame that we gave the penalty away a minute before half-time. If you are ahead you go in at the break and fancy your chances, so it was hard.

"They were horrible conditions, but it was the same for both teams so you can't make any excuses. Overall it was an okay game but, if you lose, you feel a lot worse even if you played okay."

Robbie insists that he should have been awarded another penalty when he was tugged down in the area by Martin Djetou and his claim was backed up by Sky's Goals on Sunday programme on which Gus Poyet was a guest pundit.

"I've seen it again myself and could see clearly that the chap was pulling my left arm. I heard Gus saying that referees will rarely give three penalties in a game, which is probably true.

"That's the way it goes, it's gone now and we need to concentrate on the games coming up."
