Paul walking tall again

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Reserve and under-19s defender Paul O'Donoghue received a major boost last week when he was able to shed the crutches that have accompanied him for the past two months.

The sure-footed centre-half suffered cartilage damage to his knee on the training ground - a considerable blow bearing in mind that he had not long recovered from a fractured jaw.

He is now targeting a playing return before the end of the season and his sister will now have to seek another way of infuriating big bruv...

"It is good news. I saw the specialist on Wednesday, he said it looks good so I've been able to lose them.

"It was downer having to use them, from walking up the stairs to my sister hiding them from me. That was one of worst things and it is nice to be walking now."

"It first happened when I slid a bit too far trying to get a ball that I wasn't going to win. My body kind of went over on it. After that it wasn't quite right, but was okay.

"I kept on training for a while and the physios hoped it would clear itself. One day I was up there training and my knee just locked. It was a bit of a shock.

"Glenn Hoddle was on the same pitch and came over. He was looking over me and I was thinking 'I don't need this'".

Probably more than most, Paul deserves an injury-free run, having broken his nose on three occasions already in his short career so far.

"I hope so. I hope I don't get another burst of it - I won't be able to survive.

"I hope to be out doing a bit of running soon. The reserves have got a few games left or I'll play for the under-19s as long as I can get some games before the end of the season."
