Pau keeps Serbia at bay at Under-21 Euros

23 June 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Pau Lopez kept a clean sheet to help Spain Under-21s round off their group stage campaign at the European Under-21 Championship with a 100 per cent record on Friday night.

The goalkeeper, who joined us on loan from La Liga side Espanyol at the beginning of 2016-17, came into the side and played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Serbia in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The 22-year-old had been on the bench for Spain’s first two matches in the group – a 5-0 thrashing of FYR Macedonia last Saturday and 3-1 victory over Portugal on Tuesday night, results which secured their passage into this coming Tuesday’s semi-finals with a game to spare.

Our former defender Milos Veljkovic was in action for Serbia, who were reduced to 10 men shortly before half-time when Uros Djurdjevic saw red.

Spain await the identity of their opponents in the last four.
