Pat's pride

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Pat Holland said our Academy squad did the club proud in the XXI International Youth Tournament in San Sebastian, Spain.

We took a comparatively young squad to the tournament and finished third in our group behind hosts and finalists Real Sociedad but ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The lads narrowly lost out to Real Sociedad, beat CS Osasuna before another narrow loss against Real Madrid on Sunday.

However, four schoolboys - Matthew Wells, Radwan Hamed, Jamie Davis and Archibald Troy - all featured with Under-15 goalkeeper Adam Holloway gaining invaluable experience on the bench as cover for Tommy Forecast.

"We had a very young squad out here," reflected Pat after the final group game and before flying back to England. "I had a glance at the Real Madrid squad and they had nine Under-19s and nine Under-18s. We had one Under-19 player in Kieran McKenna.

"We were mainly made up of Under-17s and Under-18s and they did us proud.

"It was a first-class tournament, superb facilities, the area is fantastic and the football was very, very good.

"I was delighted that we managed to give everyone in the group a run out apart from young keeper Adam Holloway, but all the schoolboys featured.

"It's one of those tournaments that these lads will look back at in years to come and they also have that experience of different styles of football you find in Europe.

"To have come here with such a young side and for them to have handled themselves so well, they've done excellently. I'm very pleased with them."
