Pat calls for patience
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pat Holland insists patience is the key as his under-18 side seek to overturn a two-goal deficit in the semi-final 2nd leg of the FA Youth Cup against Ipswich Town at the Lane tonight, kick-off 7pm.
The coach admits the boys were very down following the 1st leg on Friday at Portman Road, but warns a 'gung-ho' approach is not the way to go about it in the return.
"I had to pick them up and they were really low," revealed Pat. "It is one of those things they've got to learn to deal with as young players - in football things do not always go your way.
"There is time to get back into the game, I had to explain to them on Friday night that it is only part of the game gone, we have a second leg at home and are only 2-0 down. We brought them in on Sunday for a run then a video session and they were far more positive at the end of it.
"People talk about scoring early, but the most important thing is not to concede. If we do that then we have got a mountain to climb. It is important to keep a clean sheet and gradually dig away at them and hopefully you get that little break. You get the goal and that really gives you a lift - that is what we've got to try and achieve."
To help with this, Pat hopes for a bumper crowd at the Lane to get behind the boys.
"It is important and I think they will do," he added. "A big crowd would be great for the kids, let's hope it is a nice evening and we can put on a performance.
"Out of that I hope one or two excite the people who turn up. That is what they are looking for, they want to see a star of the future. Someone they can put their hopes on and see that career develop through the years. That would be wonderful."
