Owen potential 'frightening'
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Bad news for defenders - Glenn Hoddle reckons Michael Owen will be creating havoc for another decade.
Glenn helped Owen’s rise to stardom when he first named him in his England squad for the World Cup in 1998 and, of course, he went onto score his famous goal against Argentina.
Just over three years later and Owen is in the form of his life - bagging a hat-trick against Germany at the start of the month and 13 in 13 in total for club and country this season.
Now we have to try and stop him in his tracks on Saturday.
“Michael has talent now, what he’s going to be like when he’s 27, 28 is frightening,” insisted Glenn. “You don’t have to scratch your head to see why Liverpool want to sign him on new contract.
“He is going to be the top man around for the next 10 years or so. He’s a smashing lad, bags and bags of talent and he’ll get better and better.”
There is, however, no shortage of confidence in the camp after our excellent win at Sunderland on Wednesday.
But Glenn was quick to point out that there will be no complacency before the trip to Anfield. “Liverpool is a big test, always is,” he added. “We won’t be complacent because we’ve had a good result but what it does give you is more confidence.
“I feel we need to put in a good performance again. The players are aware of that and I’m sure they’re looking forward to the game.
“If we go there with that belief and confidence then we’ve got a chance.
“It’s a hard place to go but Villa did it a couple of weeks ago so there is no reason why we have to go there with any fear.
“There will be plenty of respect because Michael Owen is playing out of his skin, Steven Gerrard is suspended, so that will be a bonus for us but they have such a strong squad whatever team they put out will be strong.
“So we will have to perform like we did at Sunderland.”
