Ossie and Ricky

All at the Club wish Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa speedy recoveries after they were involved in a car accident in the Falklands on Monday evening.

We have been in touch with Ossie's friends and relatives and have been informed that both Ricky and he were fine, and that Ossie suffered a cut to the head that required stitches, but he remained conscious throughout. Ossie remains in hospital.

World Cup winners with Argentina in 1978, Ossie and Ricky joined us in July that year, an incredible double signing greeted by a newspaper headline 'Spurs scoop the world'.

The legendary midfielders went on to make 'Ossie's Dream' a reality as we landed the FA Cup in 1981. Ricky scored twice in the 3-2 replay win against Manchester City, his second goal later voted 'Goal of the Century' at Wembley Stadium.

Ossie made 311 appearances in all competitions between 1978-88 and later managed the team. Ricky played 179 times between 1978-83. Both have been inducted into our Hall of Fame.

Ossie’s son Pablo said on Tuesday morning: “Thank you for all the messages of support from everywhere on Facebook and Twitter and people who have been messaging me and emailing me. Thank you very much to everyone supporting us. It’s excellent to see people’s reaction in a sense to what’s happened, but thankfully everyone’s fine.”
