OPTA Preview

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Liverpool and Tottenham meet in a top-of-the-table clash at Anfield on Saturday as the Reds seek to retain their place at the Premiership summit.

Gerard Houllier's team will be highly confident following their midweek success in the Champions League on Tuesday when they became the first English team to win at Spartak Moscow.

Michael Owen was the hero with a fine hat-trick and with the visitors' defence not keeping a clean sheet in the Premiership since August it could be another profitable afternoon for the striker, who scored his first-ever goal at Anfield against Spurs in November 1997.

But Dean Richards has been in good form for Glenn Hoddle's team in recent games and will relish the opportunity to pit his wits against the likes of Owen and attacking partners such as Milan Baros and El Hadji Diouf.

The former Southampton defender has made 90 headed clearances this season - more than any other individual in the league - so the Reds may find it more profitable to keep the ball on the ground and try to exploit Spurs on the floor.

Their fine pass completion rate of 79% suggests they are more than capable of dominating possession on Saturday, but the north Londoners travel to Anfield safe in the knowledge that they were the last team to beat Liverpool in the Premiership.

Gus Poyet's goal ended the Merseysiders' title aspirations at White Hart Lane last April and the Uruguayan could be in line for his first start of the season after coming on as substuite against Bolton last weekend and almost immediately setting up Robbie Keane for a crucial strike.

But despite all Spurs' endeavours, Liverpool will possibly have too much class and should be able to record their sixth consecutive win.
