OPTA PREVIEW: Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham City
Birmingham City travel to play their first game in London this season and will have to make club history to return north with three points. The Blues have yet to register a Premiership victory in January and have also yet to win a Premiership game played on a Wednesday.
Tottenham will be well aware that they need to start this game well as during the first halves in the last seven games they have scored just once. Coupled with the fact that whenever Birmingham City have been leading a Premiership game at half time they have gone on to win every time, David Pleat will not be wanting to be behind when giving his half-time team talk.
This fixture also sees a return for Tottenham old boy, Stephen Clemence. The former Tottenham man returns as the only ever present Blues player this season.
The current form of both sides suggests that a draw is unlikely as Tottenham have not finished level for nine games and Birmingham have not drawn for six matches. Tottenham won fewer points (36 from 36 games) than any other side that started and finished 2003 in the Premiership and will be looking to the New Year to regroup and begin an ascent up the Premiership ladder.
