Carlo Ancelotti pointed the finger at Chelsea's defending as we ran out 2-1 winners at the Lane.

Goals from Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale secured maximum points with Frank Lampard replying two minutes into injury time.

While victory moved us back into fourth, two points ahead of Manchester City, defeat left Chelsea top by just a point from Manchester United.

"We had difficulties at the start of the game because we conceded a lot of space in our midfield and we were not able to have good control of the Tottenham attacking play," said Ancelotti.

"We had a good possession in the second part of the first half but the problem was in our defending when they had possession. We didn't put good pressure on the ball.

"Tottenham did good attacking at the start of the game and we were soft in the first 15 minutes,' the Italian continued.

"We conceded a lot of crosses from our right and this was not good. The second half we tried to do better, we had some possibility to score but when we lost Terry, it was impossible to recover the game.

"We had a difficult day against a strong team. They repeated their performance against Arsenal and we didn't play our best."
