O'Leary's overjoyed

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David O’Leary was delighted with how his side recovered from their midweek Champions’ League heroics in Anderlecht to end our unbeaten run in the Premiership at the Lane.

Leeds beat Anderlecht 4-1 on Wednesday before a deserved 2-1 victory on Saturday, coming back from Les Ferdinand’s opener thanks to an Ian Harte penalty and Lee Bowyer strike.

O’Leary enthused: “We showed belief and a lot of character. We also played a lot of good football and I'm delighted to get the three points.

“That's seven games unbeaten now and the lads are showing they are able to handle the situation of coming back to the Premiership from a European match.

“Good teams deal with the bread-and-butter stuff when they've had a great result in Europe and we're looking that way now, but I've never doubted the character of the lads.”

Ferdinand opened the scoring after 32 minutes but Harte despatched a somewhat controversial spot kick after Gary Doherty tangled with Boywer on the stroke of half-time. Bowyer’s winner followed in the 56th minute and to be fair to the visitors, Neil Sullivan was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

O’Leary added: “We went on to dominate the second half and should have scored more goals.”
