OJ makes his entrance

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

South African star OJ Mabizela demonstrated on Sunday at the Walkers Stadium that he is clearly a player who knows how to make an entrance.

Introduced by David Pleat for his Premiership debut against Leicester City on 73 minutes with the team a goal in arrears, the recruit from Orlando Pirates turned the game on its head just four minutes later with a goal of exocet qualities to provide a platform for the securing of maximum points.

Speaking afterwards, OJ quietly expressed his delight at making such an impact in his first experience of Premiership combat.

"It is very special - getting my first game and scoring my first goal," he purred. "I have never scored such a goal before!"

SPURS v BORO - TICKETS ON SALE

It was a break down the right by Robbie Keane that led to the equaliser, the Irish livewire switched play to the left of the Leicester penalty area and Bobby Zamora - despite slipping - managed to roll the ball back in the direction of the advancing OJ.

"When I saw it coming to me I thought 'there is my opportunity', I just pinged it into the net.

"I don't know what I was thinking when it went in, it was just a great moment and, of course, I went straight over to the fans to celebrate with them.

"I think this is my first step forward and if I get some more chances I will do better."

OJ concluded by admitting that his telephone bill for ringing home will be somewhat inflated following the memorable debut goal.

"Of course!"
