Oakley-Boothe and Eyoma into semi-finals of Under-17 World Cup
21 October 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Tashan Oakley-Boothe played 90 minutes and TJ Eyoma was on the bench as England Under-17s reached the FIFA Under-17 World Cup semi-finals for the first time ever on Saturday.
Midfielder Tashan, who made his competitive first team debut for us against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup last month, went close early on as the Young Lions racked up a 4-1 victory over the USA at Goa’s Fatorda Stadium in their quarter-final match.
The squad will now travel to Guwahati to face either Brazil or Germany in the last four.
Both Tashan and right-back TJ started the opening two games of the tournament, a 4-0 win over Chile followed by a 3-2 triumph over Mexico, but with England already through to the knockout stages with one game to spare, they were unused substitutes in the final group match as England thrashed Iraq 4-0.
Tashan then started and played 68 minutes as England beat Japan 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw at Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium in the last 16 on Tuesday.
