Not our night - Tom
24 September 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Tom Carroll painted a picture of the dressing after the loss against Arsenal.
“You should have seen the lads afterwards, everyone was gutted,” he said. “And we were all in there saying that we could have won this game.”
The midfielder - making his first senior start in a North London derby - agreed that the second goal was key as the Gunners ran out 2-1 winners in the Capital One Cup third round tie.
Mathieu Flamini opened the scoring in a close first half but we started positively in the second half and were in control when Calum Chambers diverted Nacer Chadli’s cross into his own net.
But a second goal proved elusive and Flamini struck what turned out to be the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Tom added: “I thought when we got it back to 1-1 it was all us but we couldn’t get the second goal. They then scored and that took it out of us a little. We were unlucky in the end.
“As soon as our goal went in the crowd were right behind us, superb, but it wasn’t our night.”
On a personal level, it was another step forward for Academy graduate Tom, who has now 28 appearances under his belt.
“These are the games you want to play in,” he said. “I was delighted to get the nod and hopefully the gaffer was pleased with my performance.”
