'Not easy, but we are ready' - Son on Palace test

22 January 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Heung-Min Son says the players must go to Crystal Palace with belief on Saturday afternoon.

Selhurst Park can be a tough place to play, as evidenced by our 2-1 defeat there last season, but Sonny – on target in style in Wednesday's 2-0 win at Leicester City in the FA Cup – sees no reason why we can't complete a seasonal double over Alan Pardew's side if we take a positive attitude heading into the match.

"This is not an easy game – we must be ready and fully concentrated," warned the 23-year-old, who secured a 1-0 win for us in the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane back in September with his first Premier League goal.

"Palace are a good team, a strong team, very strong offensively and very strong defensively but we are a strong team as well. Everyone can see that and everyone is ready. Nothing is easy but we are ready for these games."

This weekend's contest presents the potential for Sonny to come up against South Korean international team-mate Chung-Yong Lee.

The duo are friends off the pitch, but Sonny would love nothing more than to replicate his previous goalscoring feat against Lee's side as we go in search of three more points.

"It was a great feeling, my first Premier League goal against Crystal Palace," he recalled. "Lee is a very good player and I know that he can show even better performances for his team.

"Although we often meet together off the pitch we don’t have that many chances to play against each other on the pitch so it’ll be great to play against him again this weekend. A lot of the South Korean fans will look out for the game and hopefully they will see some good performances.”
