Nose joke for Tony
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
It's hard not to feel sympathy for Anthony Gardner - who currently looks like he's gone a few rounds in the ring rather than 90 minutes on the pitch.
Niggling injuries have been the bane of his career at Spurs and he was hit again at Bolton - this time by his own player.
Anthony went up with Stephen Kelly to clear the umpteenth Bolton cross at the Reebok and was left in a heap on the floor after he connected with the ball - only for Steo to connect with his nose.
The result is a broken nose, two black eyes, surgery to come and, most importantly for the big man, another spell on the sidelines after he'd got back in the team.
"It was an unfortunate collision but these things happen," signed Anthony. "The only thing is that it was a bad time for me because I'd just got back in the team.
"I spoke with the doctor and it's something I've got to get put right. I kept on playing on the night, continued heading the ball and kept going but collisions can happen and I need to make it stronger because I don't want to be apprehensive in games.
"The most frustrating thing is that I was playing and you need to make the most of your chances at the moment.
"There is a lot of pressure, a lot of competition and you want to be playing all the time.
"Hopefully it won't be too long before I'm back out there."
