Norwich U18s 2-4 Spurs - John's reaction

John McDermott hailed ‘good individual performances’ after our Under-18s secured a 4-2 victory at Norwich City on Saturday.
Goals from Christian Maghoma, Anthony Georgiou and a brace from Nathan Oduwa saw us surge into a 4-0 lead, before two goals in the final 14 minutes saw the Canaries reduce the deficit.
And in the wake of another impressive performance, which extended the lads’ 100 per cent start to the campaign into a seventh game, Academy Manager John was largely pleased with what he saw.
“I thought we started off a little bit sluggish, even though we scored an early goal,” said John.
“It was a long trip up to Norwich, but I thought we found our rhythm really well. We used our full-backs very well, and after a sluggish 10 minutes, the last part of the first half I was really pleased with.
“We created and made chances, and defensively, again, after 10 minutes I thought we were solid with good individual performances.
“In the second half I thought we maintained control of the game, even when we lost the two goals. In the last 20 minutes we played well, but lacked ruthlessness in the final stages.”
John also spoke highly of Norwich goalkeeper Marko Cancar, adding: “Their goalkeeper played really, really well and made some excellent saves.
“They scored two good goals, so we have to give them some credit. But we hit the target and we made their goalkeeper pull off some really good saves, so there is a positive in that.”
