No room for sympathy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

John Gorman says there will be no room for sympathy when Ian Walker returns to the Lane for the first time with struggling Leicester City on Saturday.

'Walks' left for Filbert Street last July after making over 300 appearances in Spurs colours.

But despite his fine form, he finds himself in a desperate relegation battle with his new club who are cut adrift at the bottom of the Premiership.

The Foxes need points badly but John insists there will be no favours for the Spurs old boy when he returns on Saturday.

"We'll have no sympathy for anyone, we'll go out and try and win the game," said our assistant boss.

"It will be difficult. Ian will be out to stop us and Leicester have always been a battling team.

"They need to fight for every point and Dave Bassett will get them going, that's for sure. They'll come here and give us a real hard game and we have to expect that."

Walks had already spent the whole season barring a handful of games on the bench when John and boss Glenn Hoddle arrived at the Lane last April.

Neil Sullivan was number one, in outstanding form and nothing was to change.

"Ian needed to play, definitely," said John. "He got his move and he's playing well.

"We weren't here for long with Ian but I've always rated him. We had him as an England goalkeeper. He's a smashing lad but we hope he's on the losing side come Saturday night."
