No looking back
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat refuses to look at previous statistics as he prepares for bogey team Middlesbrough to roll back into White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The facts are that we've won one of our last 10 Premiership meetings and the Teesiders have beaten us 3-0 twice and 3-2 at the Lane in that period.
However, we go into Sunday's televised clash in good form, four unbeaten, one goal conceded in that time and on the back of Sunday's smash and grab raid at Leicester City.
Boro, meanwhile, slipped into the bottom three after losing at home to Newcastle United - a game, by all accounts, that they dominated.
Caretaker boss David reasoned: "I've seen that the record against Middlesbrough isn't very good but I've always tried to pretend that there is no law of averages - when the ball rolls, it's up to us to play well enough to win.
"We just have to try and continue our good spell. We played well for the first 20 minutes at Middlesbrough last season and ended up getting beaten 5-1, so I won't go back to any previous statistics, we'll just try and put that record out of our heads.
"Middlesbrough played ever so well at Tottenham last season, beat us 3-0 and it looked then as though they would go on and have a good away record. In fact, they didn't have such a good away record after that even though they played very well on the day.
"It will be a difficult game. They are a good footballing side with two very fine players, Mendieta and Zenden, in wide positions. We will have to work very hard to get the points."
